Sustainability

At Maya Magal we celebrate craftsmanship and champion the process of making. We are committed to doing better and our interests lie in creating the best, not the most.  We've made a promise to ourselves to continuously look for new ways to improve; minimising our waste, choosing high quality, durable materials and in-house manufacturing are all key parts of our journey towards becoming a more sustainable business. But it doesn't stop there...

Circular thinking

Slow made, timeless jewellery, with a lifetime guarantee.

Each piece of our jewellery is handcrafted using traditional techniques. Through training and nurturing a new generation of British jewellers, we can preserve the art of jewellery making and continue to care for our jewellery even after it leaves our workshop.

We offer a 2-year warranty and a lifetime cleaning and care guarantee to extend the lifespan of your jewellery. In 2023 we plan to launch a jewellery recycling scheme.

Our workshops

Zero waste, in-house manufacturing.

Working with vertically integrated production methods means we have control of our supply chain, allowing us to focus on our commitment to care for both the wellbeing of people and the planet.

We craft our jewellery in limited, accurate quantities, avoiding over-production. Our London workshops are zero waste, meaning that all metal is reused and recycled. Manufacturing in-house allows us to offer our luxury collections at an accessible price as there’s no middle-people involved, while also ensuring our jewellers are paid a fair wage.

MADE IN
LONDON

Locally made with a low carbon footprint.

Our workshops are based in London, meaning we don’t rely on international shipping, which significantly reduces our carbon footprint.

We move our jewellery between our stores and workshops by foot, meaning less air miles and traffic pollution.

Responsible materials

100% recycled silver and gold.

Our solid gold and new sterling silver pieces are made by hand in our London workshops using recycled metals. We recycle any off-cuts and scrap pieces to ensure no jewellery ever goes to waste.

Moving to a full in-house production process allows us to craft our zero waste collections with complete control over the materials used.

Conflict-free gemstones

Sourced selectively from family-run businesses and local crafts-people.

All gemstones we work with are conflict-free and individually sourced and hand-picked by our founder, Maya, and studio design manager, Nathan.  We choose to work with family run businesses and local crafts-people. This ensures that our gemstones are sourced responsibly and in line with global regulations like the Kimberley Process.

OUR
PACKAGING

Eco-friendly packaging.

Our new and improved packaging is 100% recyclable and reusable. We recommend you keep your jewellery box and pouch to store your new jewellery safely and we are proud to say you can recycle our boxes with confidence! You can also return your jewellery packaging to us in store, to receive £5 of your next order.*

*Minimum purchase of £50

Our stores

Powered by renewable energy.

Our head office and flagship store is located in Coal Drops Yard. Part of one of the most sustainable developments in the UK, our King's Cross location is energy efficient and powered by 100% renewable energy.

At our Islington location we use First Mile for responsible waste collection. In 2023 we acheived a zero to landfill recycling standard with First Mile. As we continue to expand our sustainability efforts across all parts of our business, we are always exploring ways to make our stores more environmentally friendly.

CHARITIES, PARTNERS & ALLIANCES

We know that the road to a more sustainable future requires a global and collaborative effort. We plan to work with carefully selected organisations to broaden our sustainability reach. In the coming months we will be updating this page to outline our partnership roadmap.
